Introduction and Top 5 books of 2012

Top of the Top

Yes. I have a blog. Finally.
I’m still trying to figure out the details, so bear with me :)

For my first blog entry I thought I would do my Top 5 books of 2012. I read 60 books in 2012, so it was very hard to narrow them down to my top 5.

Let’s do this!

I got this as a gift. It is an adaption of Edgar Allan Poe’s story The Masque of the Red Death. After reading the first 5-10 pages I was really confused. It seemed to confusing, too dark, too depressing. I didn’t think that I would end up loving it. It was so special, I loved the atmosphere in this book. It was rich, elegant, mysterious, haunting. Very extravagant. The characters were very unique, they had so many layers and didn’t fit into any category.

I adored this book. To be precise I loved the two protagonists. They were so intelligent, strong and kick-ass. I loved the fast paced writing style. Great storyline. Excellent. Outstanding.

I adore John Green. I love his writing style and the witty, special characters he creates. The Fault in Our Stars blew my mind. Although the theme of the book was pretty heavy, John Green managed to include moments where the focus was on the characters and being who they are. You cried, you laughed…It was an emotional roller coaster.

I was hooked from the very first page. It was a crazy crazy read. Definitely one of a kind. Amazing character development. There are so many characters, but Michael Grant has managed to give them so much personality, that every single characters is important. Michael Grant pushes you immediately into the story. It is strange and weird. So much action. So much drama. Insanity.  An epic read.

After reading so many books, I find it hard to find books that feel special to me. But this series by Patrick Ness is mind blowing. The worldbuilding was fantastic. I loved the unique writing style, it made the story so much more alive. The characters where so loveable and the villains were really evil and you loved to hate them. Great character development. Amazing amazing story.
